Business Card Design for Your Business: What to Know Before You Order

Bohdana Lakhman, ISKRA September 2026 4 min read

Even in 2026, with most communication happening in messaging apps, business cards haven't disappeared — they're the first physical touchpoint with your brand at a meeting, event, or negotiation. A poorly designed card, with unreadable type or random clip art, often leaves a worse impression than having no card at all.

What a business card absolutely needs

  • Name and title. The person should immediately know who they're dealing with.
  • Your primary contact channel. Phone, Telegram, or Instagram — whichever you actually use, not all of them at once.
  • Business name and logo. Recognition still matters even months after the meeting.
  • A QR code to your site or bot. Easier than dictating a link out loud.

Common business card design mistakes

  • Too much text. A business card isn't a resume — an office address, a full service list, and three contact methods at once is too much.
  • Small or decorative fonts. If a phone number takes more than a few seconds to read, the card gets thrown out.
  • Design disconnected from your website or logo. When the card, website, and social media all look like they belong to different companies, it undermines trust.
  • A generic template. Free-builder designs are instantly recognizable and forgettable.

Digital or printed

Both formats make sense at once: printed for in-person meetings, digital (an image or vCard) to send over messenger right after a call. One design can easily be adapted for both.

What business card design costs

  • Basic layout (using an existing logo and colors) — $30–80.
  • Built together with your brand identity (if you don't have a logo or palette yet) — $80–150.
The best results come from designing your business card alongside your logo or website — everything stays consistent from the start, instead of reworking one piece to match another later.
