How to Prepare Texts and Photos for Your Website: What to Gather Before Development

Bohdana Lakhman, ISKRA October 2026 5 min read

Short answer: before development starts, gather a description of your services, prices or ranges, 5–10 good photos, reviews or case studies, your contacts, and a short story about you. Delays with materials, not development itself, are what most often stretch a launch.

What to prepare

  • Service descriptions. For each: what's included, who it's for, what result the client gets. 3–5 sentences is enough.
  • Prices. Exact or "from". If you're not ready to name prices, at least describe what they depend on.
  • Photos. Your work, team, workplace. Real photos work better than stock ones.
  • Reviews and case studies. Even 2–3 real reviews with names or screenshots build more trust than generic phrases.
  • About you. Who you are, what you do, why a client should choose you.
  • Contacts. Phone, messengers, email, address or service area, working hours.
  • Logo and colors. If you don't have them yet, say so — we can help with a simple version.

How to write website text

Write the way you'd explain it to a client in person: short, with no complicated terms. Start with the benefit to the reader, not the company history. One idea per paragraph, and end each service with a clear action: "message us", "get a quote".

Photo requirements

  • Landscape photos at least 1600 pixels wide for the main screen.
  • Light and sharpness matter more than an expensive camera: a modern smartphone in daylight is fine.
  • No watermarks and no random objects in the frame.

What if you have almost no materials

That's normal at the start. You can launch with a minimal set — service descriptions, contacts, a few photos — and add reviews and case studies later. It's better to open a simple site now than to wait months for perfect content.

Frequently asked questions

Can I launch a website without photos?

You can, but with photos the site looks more trustworthy. If you have none yet, start with simple good-quality smartphone shots and replace them later.

Who should write the website texts?

Ideally the owner provides the basis, since they know the customers, and the developer helps structure and simplify the text.

How long does preparing materials take?

Usually from a few days to two weeks. The faster you gather texts, photos, and contacts, the faster the site launches.
